Sony needs to make containers ONE smart
“SMART CONTAINERS”
The Japanese container shipping company ONE has contracted electronics company Sony to develop a ‘smart container’ solution that will be used throughout the company’s entire fleet. The two companies have not yet set a date, but say they are “excited” that they will “shape the future of container shipping” together.
Sony Network Communications Europe, as the full name of the technology supplier contracted by ONE, must provide innovative solutions that offer benefits to both the shipping company and the shippers. ONE itself wants to get a better view of the containers in order to be able to make faster and more proactive decisions, which enables more efficient container transport, according to the shipping company.
According to the Japanese shipping company, customers will benefit from smart container solutions because they can receive ‘live updates’ during the entire journey of a ship. Furthermore, the real-time availability of reliable shipping data will allow for “easier, more transparent communication” with other “relevant stakeholders,” according to ONE and Sony.
