Expansion and operation of the port of Brussels container terminal awarded to Van Moer Logistics
The Board of Directors of the Port of Brussels has awarded Van Moer Logistics a service concession for the expansion and operation of the container terminal in the outer port, as well as for the development of a logistics zone on a site on the back quay, for a period of twenty years.
This important agreement for the growth of the port and the Brussels-Capital Region was announced on Wednesday 12 July 2023 by the Port of Brussels, in the presence of Alain Maron, Brussels Minister for the Environment and Climate Transition, responsible for the Port of Brussels, Jo Van Moer , CEO of Van Moer Logistics, and Caroline Hermanus, Deputy Director General of the Port of Brussels.
This involves a total investment of 23.5 million euros for the duration of the concession. This significantly increases the surface area of the terminal, from 1.67 to 6 hectares. Work to reinforce the quay walls and double their length is currently underway and will be carried by the Port of Brussels. The expansion on the site will be carried out by Van Moer Logistics – already the capital’s terminal operator – with an additional site for logistics activities linked to the terminal, tripling the total area.
