Dutch Shipping company ForestWave (Groningen) takes over Symphony Shipping (Breda)

The Groningen shipping company ForestWave has taken over Symphony Shipping, a colleague from Breda in the project cargo business. With the acquisition, ForestWave will have access to Symphony’s eight ‘Ecobox’ freighters, vessels that are able to transport extra-long objects, such as the blades of wind turbines. The takeover brings the fleet of the Groningen shipping company to 21 ships. Three more newly ordered Ecobox vessels will be added in the near future: one is expected to be delivered in June, the other two will arrive in 2024 or 2025.

ForestWave was founded in 2003 and, according to its own words, started to grow rapidly from 2011. Together with its German partner Schulte & Bruns, the number of ships that the shipping company operates commercially has risen to 38. The company has also been doing this for several Symphony ships since 2016. commercial management, a relationship that has now resulted in a full acquisition.

Symphony’s office staff will now also be employed by ForestWave, but will continue to work in Breda. ForestWave also has branches in Hamburg, Newcastle and Vigo. By taking over Symphony’s young fleet, ForestWave says it strengthens its own position as a ‘sustainable shipping company’, ‘on the way to a CO2 neutral 2050’.
