APM Terminals (APMT) has emerged as the winner for the bidding war for developing a new container terminal in Suape, Brazil. The terminal company of the Danish AP Moller group has announced that it will invest 500 million dollars in a terminal with an initial throughput capacity of 400,000 TEU per year. According to the company, the new facility should be operational as early as 2025.

Suape on Brazil’s northeast coast is already the largest port in the region and has grown to become one of the largest in the country in recent years. According to Leo Huisman, director of APMT for the Americas region, the port still has a lot of growth potential and great opportunities to attract new cargo flows.
